Valley’s Blanton Baptist marks 25 years

Blanton Baptist Church, Valley, celebrated its 25th anniversary Aug. 4 beginning with a singing at 10 a.m. with the Ward Family.

A worship service followed at 11 a.m., and Tammy Irmiter, the wife of Pastor Fran Irmiter, read a history of the church that was written by one of Blanton Baptist’s charter members.

Calvin Milford, representative from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented the church with a plaque commemorating its 25 years of ministry. Steve Baggett and Amelia Milner, who have attended Blanton since its beginnings, received the plaque on behalf of the church.

Former pastor Jim Dykes spoke during the service, and a covered dish lunch followed.

“We had a really good turnout of members and former members who came to celebrate with us,” Tammy Irmiter said.

Fran Irmiter said the vision for the East Liberty Baptist Association church is about service and serving others. “Our vision is really to be a church in the community that shines light like we’re supposed to,” he said, adding that he believes “we do that best through service and being God’s hands … and feet and be-
ing there for people.”
