NASHVILLE — Big Idea Productions, creator of VeggieTales, has moved its headquarters from Chicago to Franklin, Tenn., near Nashville, and observers predict more family-oriented entertainment companies will follow.
“Big Idea is thrilled to call Tennessee home,” said Terry Pefanis, chief operating officer at Big Idea, Inc. “This vibrant area of the country is not only rich in culture and hospitality, it is also the center of the Christian entertainment and country music industries. It is the ideal place for Big Idea and VeggieTales to grow and prosper.”
Big Idea sells about 5 million home video products a year and a million albums, generating $40 million to $50 million. Big Idea’s first feature film, “Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie,” was in the top 10 at the box office for three weeks in 2002 and grossed more than $25 million.
