At 90 years old, Eura Mae Vickery has taught Sunday School for more than 41 years. Although she developed difficulty walking over the past years, Vickery has remained faithful by teaching and attending church as much as possible. Church leaders say she is an encouragement to all who know her.
Q: What led you to teach Sunday School?
A: The Lord called me into teaching. The Lord Jesus has taught me what I know, and I give Him all the praise and glory. He has revealed His Word to me, and I don’t think it’s just for me. It’s to share with others about Jesus and how to be saved.
Q: What does it demand?
A: I enjoy preparing and studying for it because my help cometh from the Lord. I can’t do anything without Him. If I’ve been a blessing to someone, that is wonderful. It makes me feel spiritually rich.
Q: What do you get from it?
A: I try to be there as much as I can, and so far, I haven’t missed very many Sundays. Since I’ve been doing it, I get a blessing.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?
A: I pray every week that the Lord will give me the strength to get ready and be there (at church), and He has been faithful to me. It is His will for me to be in the house of the Lord in my place of service. I’ve got a job to do.
Q: What difference will this ministry make for you in the future?
A: God has planted some wonderful friends in my life. I have two nieces and one nephew. I don’t have anybody else. The church is my family.
