Bertis Ray is the new pastor of Walden Chapel Baptist Church, Danville. Ray is a native of Gadsden. After earning an M.Div. from New Orleans Seminary, he served in Louisiana and Wyoming. Upon returning to Alabama, he served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Gadsden; First Baptist Church Ashville; First Baptist Church Rogersville; and Providence Baptist Church, Town Creek. Ray previously retired after 52 years of ministry. He and his wife, Rhonda, have one son.
