If you look up the definition of persistence you should see Jesus’ face.
I know this because Jesus never gave up on me. Even when I was at my lowest He kept pestering me.
You see I had this old white Bible in my teens. I glanced at it now and again mostly just for show, but when I was 17, unmarried and pregnant, I found it under my bed.
When I was 18 and living in a sinful relationship, I found it in a box at the bottom of my closet while looking for a stashed bottle of alcohol.
At 20, homeless and living in my subcompact car, abused and pregnant, I found it in the backseat.
At 21, a single mom and terrified, I started reading it.
At 31, I finally admitted I couldn’t handle this life on my own anymore and begged Jesus to forgive me and save my soul.
Guess what? He did and I was baptized with my old white Bible, now falling apart, waiting for the new me to come up from the baptismal waters.
Jesus promises many things in His Word. In Joshua 1:5 it says, “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
He continues in Revelation 3:20, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with Me.”
Do you hear that knocking? Answer the door. Open your heart.
It is the One who loves you just the way you are, where you are. He’s not going to give up.
That’s the wonderful thing about a relationship with Jesus: He is persistant.
If you have questions, seek out a pastor, a church or a Bible.
He’s there just waiting for you to get tired of doing it all on your own.
