Do you know that Jesus’ ministry only spanned three short years? Look at what He accomplished during that time.
What have you done in the last three years of your life? Have you:
4healed a blind person?
4fed 5,000 people with two fish and five loaves of bread?
4raised someone that had been dead and buried for three days? And not only raised them but called them forth from the grave fully restored?
I know I haven’t.
Think about why Jesus came — to save our eternal souls from sin and sure hell. Why did He sacrifice Himself to save dirty, wayward souls like ours?
Why He came
Because of one simple reason that can be explained by one simple word: love. When God created you, He knew everything about you — your sins, your pain, your joy. God knew we would need someone to redeem us and the amazing thing is that He loved us all so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be tortured and endure unbearable humiliation and pain.
Another incredible fact is that Jesus loved us enough to be willing to endure that suffering so we could spend a joyful eternity with Him in heaven.
Do you realize that even though Jesus is God, He still endured everything we do as humans? He experienced the temptations. Just take Luke 4 for example. Jesus was tested by Satan three times when He was in the wilderness. And each time He resisted great tempations.
Can you imagine if you knew you would die a death like His to save someone? Even someone you loved. Would you do it?
Honestly, I don’t know if I could.
Want to know God? Read the Bible with an open heart and then look at the cross. There is nothing else you need to know.
