Want to know God?

Want to know God?

Brent Baptist Church

Have you ever wondered what it really means to know God? In order to know Him, we must identify who He is. God has revealed Himself to man in many ways.

First God has shown Himself to us through His creation. The God of heaven and earth is exposed to us through the majesty and beauty of a vast universe that man is continuing to discover. We see in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” The complexity of our very subsistence demands the very existence of our Creator.

Second God has revealed Himself to man through the Bible. The discovery of written manuscripts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls confirms the reliability of ancient documents of Scripture. We read in John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Finally, and most importantly, we know God through His Son, Jesus Christ. In order to know God and receive eternal life, you must first accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. In Romans 5:8, we read, “But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

The Bible tells us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God loves you so much that He died for you. God loves you so much that He sent Jesus to die for your sins and for you to be made whole.

Dear friend, you may be reading this in the middle of a dentist office, a coffee shop or your living room but Jesus wants you to know He loves you. Quite possibly, you may be living a life in which the choices you have made have not provided any peace. Yes, Christ loves the unwed mother, the drug-addicted father, the depressed student with no friends, the elderly sitting in the nursing home all alone and you.

For each and every person facing hardship and heartache today, a new life in Christ simply requires a heart that turns from self-reliance to Jesus. Make Jesus your Master, Lord and Savior right now.
