Washington Baptists’ Caring Hearts Center expands

Washington Baptist Association’s Paul and Mavis Kendrick Caring Hearts Center in Chatom is expanding with a little help from its friends.

The association is purchasing the building it currently leases, plus adjacent property, which will allow the center to expand from 1,000 square feet to approximately 4,600 square feet.

Churches and individuals in the Washington County area will be helping out with construction June 22–26.

The hope is to gather enough people to get the work done that week so the center — a thrift store selling clothing, toys and small household items — will not have to be closed for an extended period of time.

“Please pray for us,” said Director of Missions Michael Olewski. “Our building fund has come primarily from our churches and individuals in our association, but we estimate that we will not have enough money in this fund to complete the work.”
