On Sept.19, 1993, Wildwood Baptist Church, Cottondale, in Tuscaloosa Baptist Association, was officially organized with 35 members.
At the celebration service Sept. 23, several charter members were present including the church’s three pastors, Gary Youngblood, who was the first pastor; Clay Hahn, who served as pastor for more than nine years; and current pastor, Chuck Weaver.
The worship service began with the charter members receiving a plaque of commendation from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission presented by Debbie Campbell.
“It’s exciting to come to church,” said Annette Toxey, one of the 25-year-old church’s charter members.
“We are celebrating 25 years because God had a plan,” said Weaver. “This building was once a cabinet shop. I am thankful to Wildwood Baptist Church for the vision they have of reaching the children with the love of Jesus.”
Following the special music and sermon by Weaver, everyone enjoyed lunch in the Jettie McKinley Kirkpatrick Christian Life Center, named in honor of their clerk, who at 96, is still actively serving the Lord at Wildwood Church. (Debbie Campbell)
