William Burns: Honoraville’s Union Baptist pastor dies

William Burns, who served as pastor of Union Baptist Church, Honoraville, for almost 17 years, died Oct. 23. He was 75.

Burns began working at a young age to help support his family after his father died. He later started his own business — Burns and Son Septic Systems — with his son, Jeff. 

After being called into ministry, William Burns served as bivocational pastor of New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Highland Home, and Highland Home Baptist Church. He served Union Baptist as bivocational pastor for 12 years and then as full-time pastor for five years after retiring from his business.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, two children and four grandchildren.
