Women’s Resource Center in Mobile celebrated the grand opening of its site in Saraland in a new facility June 8.
The previous Saraland center had closed in late 2019.
“We want to be all over Mobile County for life,” said Marty Carrell, CEO of WRC, which al-so has a site on Downtowner Boulevard in Mobile across from Planned Parenthood, a site in Semmes and a mobile unit.
She said the new center was made possible by generous supporters such as the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission’s Psalm 139 Project, which provided the grant for a new ultrasound machine.
‘Fierce’ battle
Even with Roe v. Wade being overturned in 2022, the battle for life “is fierce,” Carrell said, noting that WRC staff and volunteers need churches to come alongside them to help love and serve the community well.
“The more we work together, the more we can see the work of God,” she said.
