Working Toward ‘All-Steinway’

The University of Mobile (UMobile) Center for Performing Arts/School of Music has set its sights on becoming an All-Steinway School, joining the ranks of prestigious music schools that provide students the opportunity to study using what many professional pianists consider to be the finest pianos in the world.

UMobile’s Roger Breland said the goal “emphasizes the university’s commitment to provide its students and faculty with the finest of musical instruments. It also enhances the university’s ability to recruit gifted student musicians.”

Among the world-class pianists who praise the instruments produced by Steinway & Sons is UMobile artist-in-residence Kadisha Onalbayeva, who was named a Steinway Artist in April 2013.

In order to be classified as an All-Steinway School, 95 percent of the university’s piano inventory must be Steinway & Sons.
