The men’s soccer team from Curaçao, the smallest country to qualify for the World Cup, has found purpose beyond the 2026 FIFA scoreboard.
On June 20, Curaçao team members gathered around their Ecuadorian opponents after closing the game with a 0-0 draw. Led by players Kenji Gorré and Ecuador’s Moisés Caicedo, the Caribbean country’s team prayed over their Ecuadorian rivals. The virialized moment reflects a track record of public prayer and worship moments led by the team, nicknamed “The Blue Wave.”
