11 with Alabama ties appointed as IMB representatives

Eleven International Mission Board representatives with Alabama ties were among 89 appointed for work overseas during a service March 18 at First Baptist Church, Taylors, S.C.

Tyler and Jennifer Eiland, of Auburn, will serve in the Central, Eastern and Southern Africa region.

There, Tyler Eiland, who graduated from Samford University in Birmingham with a degree in religious studies and earned his master of divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., will serve as a strategy coordinator.

Jennifer Eiland, also a Samford graduate, will serve in community and home outreach.

The couple have one daughter.

Valery Hulsey, a Birmingham native, will serve in community and home outreach in Western Europe. Her husband, Don, will work as a church planter.

A graduate of Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Don Hulsey earned a master’s from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and doctorate from Samford’s Beeson Divinity School.

Since 1990, he has served as a church planter with the North American Mission Board. The couple have four grown children.

Misty Sargent, a Sheffield native, will go with her husband, Matt, and daughter to serve in the Pacific Rim region.

Matt Sargent, who earned his bachelor’s from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., and master’s from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, will work to plant churches, while Misty Sargent, also a Liberty graduate, serves in community and home outreach.

Five other representatives with Alabama ties were appointed for service in high-security regions. (TAB)
