ABUJA, Nigeria — Violence against Christians in Nigeria continues to take its toll, with at least 12 believers recently killed and the wife of a pastor abducted.
Nigeria has led the world in the number of Christians killed for their faith or kidnapped, according to information from Morning Star News.
The following are recent reports from Morning Star:
— Nov. 14: David Musa, pastor of Evangelical Church Winning All in the Obajana area of Kogi state, was slain. He was abducted Nov. 11 while he worked on his farm. Members of Musa’s church paid the terrorists $1,184 (1 million naira) in ransom for Musa’s release.
Sources said the attackers shot Musa upon freeing him.
— Nov. 17: Attackers invaded the home of Joshua Amako Maraya, killing him and abducting his wife. Maraya was pastor of Evangelical Church Winning All in Damakasuwa town in Kaduna state.
— Nov. 24: At least 10 Christians were killed in raids upon more than five areas in Taraba state. Muslim Fulani herdsmen and others are suspected in the attacks.
Nigeria is No. 6 on Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
