ESTES PARK, Colo. — Well-known Bible teacher and ministry founder Maj. W. Ian Thomas died Aug. 1. He was 91. A native of England, Thomas founded Torchbearers of the Capernwray Missionary Fellowship (now Torchbearers International), an international missionary organization based in Estes Park, Colo., and Carnforth, England, with more than 20 centers worldwide. For more than 70 years, Thomas, a World War II veteran, traveled the globe sharing the gospel. Currently all four of his sons are spread around the world in various ministry positions with Torchbearers International. He is survived by his sons and wife Joan.
