Though the DVD won’t be released until Jan. 30, group licenses are already available for churches to show "Facing the Giants" as an outreach event.
"Facing the Giants," a football film written and produced through the ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church, Albany, Ga., has grossed approximately $10 million since premiering in theaters Sept. 29, 2006. At least 800 professions of faith have been made at the screenings, according to J. Robert White, executive director of the Georgia Baptist Convention.
"Just as Jesus used the power of stories to touch the hearts of people and inform them about His Kingdom, ‘Facing the Giants’ is a modern-day parable on fear and faith communicated in a language that is understood by our current culture," White said.
Sherwood Baptist has helped to create a special program for churches to host their own movie night with an event at their facilities.
Two different licenses are available from www.providentfilms.org, with prices varying by crowd size.
Churches need to make use of this "reasonable" offer and play by the rules, White said, noting that DVDs purchased at retail stores are only licensed for home use, not large group screenings.
"In the setting of your church, you can extend an evangelistic invitation for people to come to faith in Christ, and I believe that God will pour out a great blessing of souls for His Kingdom," White said. (TAB)
