I enjoyed the article “Christians in politics: lessons that transcend the moment.”
Anyone over the age of 40 or knowledgeable of the writings of our founding fathers understands it was because of their deep religious convictions that God took this fledgling nation and exalted it above all other ancient systems of government.
Earthly politics is not merely about winning, but for some, it is responding to God’s call, “Whom shall I send?”
Not all politicians seek to “use” the clergy. Many Christians seek political office in order to protect family values, prevent gambling expansion, impact educational resources (i.e., combat evolution studies), stand against abortion and the sale of unborn baby body parts, and the list goes on. We must guard against cynicism and stereotyping of all political leaders. There are thousands of Christians throughout the United States serving in political office because God has planted them there in answer to our prayers for this nation.
