October 17 was a day of remembrance and appreciation for Heritage Baptist Church, Pell City, as members, former pastors and visitors celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The celebration was filled with choir performances and musical guests, including Simply Blessed and His Way. There was also a slideshow featuring commentary on the St. Clair Baptist Association church’s early years.
Perhaps the most memorable part of the program was the video of the church’s history, provided by Dave Disspain. The video was produced 25 years ago and showed the conception of the church building through prayers and congregational meetings, which all took place in a small shop.
Keith Moore, the first pastor of Heritage Baptist, closed out the morning service with a sermon. A portion of the afternoon service was dedicated to recognizing all former pastors.
Gerald Glenn, a representative of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, was on hand to present a plaque during the celebration. Director of Missions Ben Chandler also honored the church by presenting a certificate of appreciation from St. Clair Association.
While it was a day to acknowledge Heritage’s legacy, Pastor Joey Rich also was looking at where his congregation is going.
“As I look towards the future of Heritage Baptist, I am confident that we will continue to grow as we keep our hearts focused on our purpose: to love God, love people and make disciples,” Rich said.
