We are continuing our Bible study in the Dominican Republic. It was growing tremendously, so we decided to form a youth group.
We continue to have the adult Bible study on Tuesday evenings and Donny continues his study on Monday nights.
We recently had a prayer-walking team come from the University of Georgia Baptist Student Union. They walked the streets of many barrios and prayed for the specific needs that they saw; they also prayed for the medical team from Germantown, Tenn., that was to come a couple of weeks later.
The medical team came and in four days we saw 3,000 patients. We also showed the “Jesus” film each night at clinic sites.
Our prayer was for 10 new Bible studies to be started out of the medical operation. The Lord answered above and beyond.
In the first night alone, 22 people said they wanted to attend home Bible studies.
Many others also responded, with many professing their new- found faith in Christ. One school closed down to allow us to hold medical clinics there. Each teacher at the school prayed to receive Christ and they asked us to teach the religion classes. What a mighty God we serve. What work there is to be done here.
How can one missioanary couple hold 25-plus Bible studies, teach religion classes, work in a hospital and maintain a family? We can’t. We are praying for more workers — short and long term.
Currently we have added a new work in El Trece, four new works in Carbonera and are about to start a new one in another barrio of Monte Cristi.
We praise God for sending us a national with whom to work. His name is Jose Antonio and he truly has a heart for reaching Monte Cristi.
Angie Harmon, from Germantown, will also be arriving in early September to serve a two-year term helping begin new churches.
