Want to know God?

Want to know God?

In Sunday School our lesson spoke about homeless people, and then coincidentally our sermon title was, “Jesus Encounters a Blind Man.” The holiday season is upon us and I wonder how many of us get so distracted, so busy, so stressed that we become blind to what is going on around us? How many people have we passed while shopping that are in pain, either mentally or physically? How many people are so hungry, seeing your shopping cart full makes them consider violence just for a small morsel?

Jesus taught us in Matthew 25:40, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.’” God promises us 365 times in Scripture there’s no need to worry. Jesus goes further in Matthew 6:25–34 telling us what not to worry about. So for believers, we are assured that our Father in heaven already knows our needs and we will be taken care of.

We must learn whatever lesson He has for us to learn in the middle of our struggle; however, we remain confident of His love and faithfulness. If you have not accepted Jesus’ free gift of salvation, wouldn’t you like to have that assurance and peace that only comes from a personal relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit?

As for our time here on earth I am challenging myself, and also all of you, to send an uplifting card for no special reason, give a hug to someone hurting or buy someone a hamburger. Jesus opened the eyes of the blind for a reason. Don’t turn a blind eye — be a witness.
