In reply to a recent letter about tolerance, I think it is important for all of us to understand that the “New Toleration” is not the dictionary definition. Politicians of recent notoriety and others as well taught us that for the postmodern generation words can mean whatever one wants them to mean.
They can even change the meaning several times to suit the occasion. They are doing it with our given and long-time understandings of biblical truth.
The new toleration that I wrote about is not “just showing longsuffering” but a validation and acceptance on equal footing of false religion, deviant lifestyles and sin.
What is arrogant about claiming that Jesus never accepted and validated sin and false religion? Sure He lovingly spoke the truth and cared for the sinner, but He also spoke about vipers and hypocrites (check Matt. 12:34, 23:33, 15:7 and 16:3).
Arrogance really is rebellion against the truth as spoken by Jesus and portrayed on the cross.
