Agape Baptist Church, Scottsboro, celebrated its 25th anniversary Sept. 29. More than 25 charter members were present. Special presentations included a video of the church’s history narrated by founding pastor Roger Mardis and a plaque given by Wendy Westerhouse, executive director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission.
Pastor Ryan Johnson accepted it on behalf of the church. The service also included 17 baptisms. Following lunch everyone was encouraged to participate in a prayer walk for Freedom Forge, an addiction recovery center soon to be on the land adjacent to the church that was gifted to them.
