Alabama Baptists tapped to serve in SBC roles

Several Alabama Baptists were elected during this year’s Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting to serve on a board or committee:

• Rusty Sowell, pastor of Providence Baptist, Opelika, and L. Daniel Mims, a layman from Government Street Baptist, Mobile — Committee on Nominations.

• Scott A. Ferguson, pastor of Westview Baptist, Opp — Executive Committee, second term.

• Cliff Knight, associate pastor of family ministries of Lakeview Baptist, Auburn — LifeWay Christian Resources, second term.

• Ed Litton, pastor of First Baptist, North Mobile, in Saraland — Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, second term.

• Larry W. Felkins, director of missions for Chilton Association — Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, second term.

• Eunie W. Smith, a member of First Baptist, Birmingham — The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, second term.

Alabama Baptists serving the SBC during this year’s annual meeting were:

• Jimmy Jackson, state convention president and pastor of Whitesburg Church, Huntsville, served as a parliamentarian.

• Dusty McLemore, pastor of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, Athens, and Charles Brown, pastor of Government Street Church, Mobile, served on the Committee on Committees.

• Carlos Lemus, pastor of Pueblo de Dios, Prattville, and Sid Nichols, director of missions for Calhoun Association, served on the Tellers Committee.

• Shane Russell, pastor of Shoal Creek Baptist, Deatsville, served on the Resolutions Committee. (BP)
