Alabama teams serve through missions

First Baptist Church, Montgomery, is sending volunteers to Mozambique on an evangelism project Sept. 12-24.

Mark Hudson and Jim Stuckey of North Phenix Baptist Church went on a missions trip to Vietnam.

A team of 12 from First Baptist Church, Phenix City, led by Eddie and Toni Blankenship, traveled to Salamanca, N.Y., where they hosted a Bible conference at night, led Vacation Bible School and performed various work projects.

Several youth from Philadelphia Baptist Church, Smiths, conducted Vacation Bible School with Dauphin Island Baptist Church in Mobile.

Nine youth and four counselors from Wadsworth Baptist Church, Deatsville, went on a missions trip June 23-28 to Leesburg, Ga.

Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Dothan sent a missions team to Honduras the week of Aug. 17-24.

Montgomery’s First Baptist Church members Max Croft and Reggie Quimby, as part of the Alabama Venezuela Partnership, went on a missions trip to Venezuela Aug. 12-19.

First Baptist Church, Huntsville sent a medical and dental missions team to Haiti Sept. 1-8.

Bill Hayes and wife Bonnie, formally of First Baptist Church, Ragland, along with Richard and Betty Farrar of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, recently completed a month-long volunteer service at Mount Baker Baptist Camp in Deming, Wash. Their work included kitchen duties and maintaining the church and camp facilities. Hayes served as camp chaplain while they were there.

Dan Taylor, as part of Christian Missions Unlimited, went on a missions trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Aug. 9-16. He is a member of Westwood Baptist Church, Selma.

Bessemer Association is planning a missions construction project to Belize Sept. 21-28.

Members of Brookwood Baptist Church, Birmingham, are traveling to Michigan to put the finishing touches on the construction mission at Cedar Street Baptist Church Sept. 21-28. Volunteers from the partnering churches will work on trimming and painting. They are also sending a missions team to Rio October 4-12.

This fall, Shiloh Baptist Church, Sardis, is sending a missions team to Belize.

Lamar Baptist Association has two individuals who volunteered for missions work. Lisa Miller of Spring Hill Baptist Church, Millport, took a missions trip to Venezuela in August. Mary Finch From Corinth Baptist Church, Vernon, went on a trip to Nicaragua, and then on a trip to Venezuela where she used buttons donated by members of the Lamar Baptist Association for crafts. She is also going to Honduras, and will deliver eyeglasses donated by members of the Lamar Baptist Association.

Richie Ashburn of Central Baptist Church in Phenix City is on a mission trip to Turkey.

Members of Canaan Baptist Church, Bessemer, are planning a missions trip Sept. 22-29.

Twelfth Street Baptist Church, Gadsden, is planning a medical missions trip to Guatemala during Thanksgiving week.

Montgomery’s First Baptist Church is sending volunteers to take part in the Mozambique Evangelism Project Oct. 9-26.

Lanett’s First Baptist Church hosted a Missions/Ministry Day Aug. 17. Fifty-five people participated. Volunteers painted two houses and the children’s classroom in the church.

Pastor Lynn McCullar of Mulberry Springs Baptist Church, Sulligent, along with five other church members, recently returned from a missions trip to Otis, Colo. The team reported that five professions of faith were made.

Alton Harpe of Phenix City First Baptist Church will be part of a team from the International Mission Board going to China Oct. 12-20.
