Ten Alabama Baptist bikers debuted the state’s first F.A.I.T.H. Riders at the National Veterans Day Parade in downtown Birmingham Nov. 11.
The group, chartered through the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM), is a state chapter of a national association of Christian bikers started by First Baptist Church at the Mall, Lakeland, Fla.
Alabama’s first local group was recently launched by Hill Crest Baptist Church, Anniston, in Calhoun Baptist Association.
Sammy Gilbreath, director of the office of evangelism for the SBOM, said he hopes it will take off from there and spread to other Baptist churches in the state.
Riding motorcycles and identifying with bikers will “get you in doors you cannot get in any other way” to share the gospel, Gilbreath said. “This group is formed specifically to do evangelism.” (TAB)
