I read your editorial in the May 12 issue “But Even if He Does Not …” and was excited that someone had captured my view and application of those texts from Daniel 3. I am a full-time hospice chaplain with Wiregrass Hospice in Enterprise.
I have used the story of the three Hebrew young men on several occasions with my patients. I focus on the “but if not” portion to help my patients.
Many struggle with the feeling that their plight is the result of some unknown and thus unconfessed sin. I try to remind them that we don’t always know what God is doing and that we should never confuse “what God can do with what God choses to do.”
