Art entries sought for ‘Southern Drawl’

Artists from the South are encouraged to enter the 10th annual “Art With a Southern Drawl,” which features the best in visual arts from seven Southern states.

The University of Mobile (UM) show has been featured in regional publications including Southern Living magazine, Mobile Bay Monthly magazine and the Mobile Press Register, where it was cited as a seasonal highlight featuring “a marvelously eclectic range of artwork, from the esoteric to the whimsical.”

The annual juried exhibition and competition represents a wide range of media, styles, themes and techniques.

The competition is open to artists working in any media, and only original art is accepted.

Applicants must be either born in or currently live in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee or Texas. All works must be the original creation of the artists and must have been produced since 1998.

The show will be held at UM April 1-30, 2001. Application forms, slides and juror fees must be postmarked by Jan. 10, 2001.
