Several years ago my church was in the midst of a project to expand the Sunday School space, using volunteers to finish the youth ministry floor to save costs.
I am sitting on the sofa next to my four-year-old grandson. We are playing the Mario Kart video game. It’s a car-racing game featuring digital vehicles you get to design and operate.
Wow. I couldn’t believe it. It was right there in front of me in clear black and white text. I read it several times to make sure I wasn’t misunderstanding. Yet I still found it hard to believe.
I was driving around town taking care of a few errands when I came to a red light at a busy intersection. As I pulled to a stop I heard the intense voice of a man saying, “Have you been saved?”
I guess, in the moment, it is human nature to want somebody else to blame. We don’t want to blame ourselves. We can’t blame other people — they’d get mad at us.
