Samford University held a ceremonial groundbreaking April 16 to commemorate phase one of Samford Horizons: A Blueprint for Tomorrow, the university’s campus master plan.
“Character education is foundational to developing healthy and whole adults who, in turn, develop healthy and whole communities,” said Anna McEwan, dean of Samford University’s Orlean Beeson School of Education.
The Samford University board of trustees has unanimously approved the first phase of Samford Horizons, a long-term campus master plan that is based on the university’s strategic plan, Fidelitas.

Samford University has received a grant of $1.2 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. to help establish The Spirit and Power Project, a new preaching initiative.
Pete Hanna played football for Samford during the 1950s, serving as a center and halfback on offense and linebacker on defense. He scored one of the first touchdowns in the stadium that will now be named in his honor.
Samford University announced its largest total enrollment in the history of the institution with 5,791 students. This also set new records for the largest class of first year students and the largest number of undergraduate students.
Samford University’s Moffett and Sanders School of Nursing has received more than $2 million to improve the preparation of primary care nurse practitioner students committed
