As a member of a Southern Baptist church in Skipperville — New Hope Baptist — I am ashamed that a Baptist church considered protesting at the funerals for the Amish girls murdered the first week of October. As a Christian, have they forgotten “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” or Paul’s teaching the greatest gift is love? Where is their compassion?
When I heard, I could not believe what I was hearing. Because they have a beef with the governor of Pennsylvania, they are going to add to the pain and suffering of these humble people. It is things like this that give religion a bad name.
I ask that everyone pray for God to soften these seemingly hard-hearted people so God’s love can shine through them in the way Jesus taught us, not show how much of the world is in them.
