Along with his role as executive director of missions for Mobile Baptist Association, Blackwell will join the University of Mobile faculty, launching what UM President Charles Smith calls an “innovative partnership.”

In her time as Miss University of Mobile, Chesed Turner aims to grow the program of Miss UM and her platform, “Created to Create,” which focuses on bringing different outlets of expression and creativity to both the campus and its students.
“Gen Z is riddled with anxiety, and their belief system doesn’t help,” Boyce College dean Dustin Bruce says. “They’re lonely, and we make the case for faith in the context of community.”
During his sermon, Phil Waldrep said the most effective form of evangelism is loving people. He challenged churches to love people well, not show favoritism and call people by name to show them that they’re cared for.
Gil McKee served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa for nearly 25 years. His final Sunday in the role was Jan. 19. “It’s been the most rewarding, fulfilling pastorate of my life. It’s my Ephesus.”
