Under the bill, mothers would be granted eight weeks after the birth of a child, and fathers, two weeks. Teachers and state employees would receive 100% of their base pay while on leave. The benefit extends to adopting a child under 3.

In her time as Miss University of Mobile, Chesed Turner aims to grow the program of Miss UM and her platform, “Created to Create,” which focuses on bringing different outlets of expression and creativity to both the campus and its students.
