As you share your thoughts and experiences through “Comment” in The Alabama Baptist, I always read with great interest and appreciation. Your candor and sincerity flow from the heart of a pastor as well as a journalist.
The editorials of June 1 and June 8, I believe, were exceptionally pertinent, articulate and reasoned. You presented the theological concepts of soul competency and the priesthood of all believers, which are foundational to our Baptist heritage, in a manner that was neither dogmatic nor evasive. Your clarity of expression allowed readers to penetrate to the heart of the matter. Alabama Baptists are grateful for a state newspaper editor to whom God has given great capacity to think, excellent ability to write and the courage of strong convictions.
