Big Springs Baptist Church, Roanoke, celebrated its 175th anniversary Dec. 7. Scott Hannah, a former pastor, was the guest preacher. Deacon Wesley Gay shared a historical overview followed by a presentation to the church by Roger Willmore, a commissioner for the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. Blair Parker, deacon chairman, accepted the framed certificate on behalf of the church. Special music was provided by the adult choir and soloist Macy Hancock. Several members dressed in costumes of the period when the church was established. Following the service everyone was invited to a covered dish lunch.
