On Oct. 28, 2018, the congregation of Macedonia Baptist Church, Vinemont, in West Cullman Baptist Association, held a celebration reception in honor of Billy Gable, who served as the church’s pastor for 25 years. “Members of the church extend much love and appreciation to him for his dedication to its members and will continue to pray for him, his family and his ministry,” church member Shauna Hinkle said. Gable, who retired in September 2018, was called to Macedonia Baptist in February 1993. Gable was gifted with a plaque, an artist’s sketch of the church, a poem written by a member, and other gifts and cards. “He served faithfully as he preached, ministered to the church and community, visited the sick and homebound and witnessed wherever he went,” Hinkle said. “He also began a bus ministry that enabled many children and youth to hear the gospel and receive Christ.”
