Upon reading the “Wired” survey on page 20 of the Aug. 31 issue of The Alabama Baptist, I am again intrigued by the categorization of “born again Christians” and “not born again Christians.” This born-again” concept received much secular press coverage when Jimmy Carter was running for and served as President.
Christ told Nicodemus “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God,” (John 3:3) and “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). This dilution of the gospel has led to the widely-held view that many roads lead to God, despite the fact that Jesus also said “No man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). The gospel is simple, however, it is also unambiguous.
