Cane poles, children and Christ

Cane poles, children and Christ

Children with cane poles gathered on the banks of a pond owned by Jack and Bonnie Fricks of Albertville June 3. And while many of the 167 7 to 12 year olds caught a fish, 25 children went home having given their life to Christ.

“It was exciting,” said Randall Stoner, director of missions for Marshall Baptist Association. The association co-sponsored the Kids Fishing and Fun Day with Team Jesus Ministries, the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions and area churches.

“This is one of our Intentional Evangelism events,” Stoner said, noting that 31 children were saved at last year’s event.

Now in its second year, the event also featured a show from the puppet ministry of First Baptist Church, Albertville.

In addition, the children watched J.D. Plummer of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Oxford, in Calhoun Baptist Association work his illusions as Whacky the Clown and heard the plan of salvation from Chip Warren, minister of education for First, Albertville.

The lunchtime music was provided by Dwayne Moore of Scott Dawson ministries.

Each child who participated in the entire event took home a rod and reel and Team Jesus hat. (TAB)
