Central Baptist in Florence celebrates 125th anniversary

Central Baptist Church, Florence, celebrated its 125th anniversary Nov. 23. Long-time members Richard and Shirley Thornton recounted the church’s history and its commitment to missions. Central, together with Florence First Baptist Church, launched Highland Baptist Church, Florence. Pastor Todd Wilson accepted a plaque on behalf of the church presented by Jimmy Austin, a commissioner for the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. Austin expressed his gratitude for being a part of the service, noting his membership at Highland Baptist, and thanked Central for being a missions-minded congregation.
