They have lived in Uganda 10 years since fleeing religious persecution and warring factions in her native Sudan.
‘Close the church’
The death threats seem to be related to her telling Muslims in Sudan about Jesus Christ and teaching a discipleship class to Christian converts from Somalia. Yousif said Muslims had, as a warning to her, tortured a Somali Muslim who had put faith in Christ.
“He was sent back to warn us to close the church and stop discipleship classes,” she said.
Yousif told Morning Star that she and her family must again relocate for safety.
World Watch
Sudan is No. 4 and Somalia is No. 2 on Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim, though its constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. But Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, World Atlas reported.
