Please allow me to encourage all your readers to pray for and attend the meetings held in conjunction with the Alabama Baptist State Convention and the convention sessions as well. We have been led for two years by Dr. Henry Cox, a native of Bibb County and a true Baptist statesman. I hope that we can fill the sanctuary of Hunter Street Baptist Church on Nov. 14 and 15 as we meet together to help advance the work of God’s Kingdom.
The early church was all “together in one accord” on the day of Pentecost, and we are doing God’s will today as they were in the first century. I implore all pastors, missionaries, staff, lay leaders, evangelists, Woman’s Missionary Union members, students and all those who want to exalt Jesus to be present and prayerful at the convention.
Dr. John Killian, the pastor of Maytown Baptist Church, is president of the Alabama Baptist Pastors Conference. Dr. Killian has planned an inspirational program that will bless and challenge us as servants of the Lord. The Pastors Conference will meet Nov. 13 at Gardendale’s First Baptist Church.
I am asking for us to begin now with a season of prayer for the state convention, Pastors Conference and all the meetings held in conjunction with the state convention. May God use all these meetings to call us to revival, renewal and rededication as we lead our church in the years ahead. All Baptists — young and old; rural, urban and suburban; traditional, blended and contemporary — should plan to attend and participate for the glory of God.
