Cooperative Program giving strong in state

Alabama Baptists are solidly committed to supporting missions through the Cooperative Program. Despite the current economic challenges, Alabama Baptists have continued to give at record dollar levels through the Cooperative Program.

Although these dollar levels continue to rise, in recent years Alabama Baptist churches have followed the Southern Baptist Convention pattern of keeping more dollars at home.

Our recommendation is that each church give at least 10 percent of undesignated receipts through the Cooperative Program.

We know of some churches that have set the example for other congregations by giving as much as 20 percent of undesignated receipts to missions causes through the Cooperative Program.

Since 1925 the Lord has blessed the efforts of Southern Baptists and Alabama Baptists in reaching people for Christ in our state, nation and world.

Short-term missions endeavors on the part of Alabama Baptists and Southern Baptists can be useful experiences for missions education and involvement, but they can never replace the ministries of state missionaries, missionaries in North America or international missionaries.

As doors of opportunity open for effective evangelism and missions work in our needy world, this is a good time for Alabama Baptists and Southern Baptists to rededicate themselves to giving through the proven and God-blessed channel of mission support called the Cooperative Program.

Thank you, Alabama Baptists, for your commitment to the cause of Christ locally, regionally, nationally and internationally in missions giving, going and praying.

May we continue to work together to reach those in need of Christ here and around the world.
