Thank you for your article ("More liquor on Sunday, in beer being debated" in the Feb. 21 issue) and note of clarification (March 20 issue) on House Bill 196, by Rep. Thomas Jackson, concerning the allowable alcohol level in beer. You are absolutely correct in your article and in response to the letter you received. This legislation allows the sale of beer with alcohol content up to 13.9 percent. The present allowable level is 6 percent alcohol.
