The Alabama disaster relief ministry performed a marvelous task the first week of September by feeding 500-plus evacuees from Louisiana at Northwest-Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals.
Area Baptist churches pitched in to provide much-needed volunteer support, needed supplies and love to these displaced people needing support.
My granddaddy, a Southern Baptist preacher from the 1930s–1960s, and his identical twin brother, also a Southern Baptist preacher, often told their children and grandchildren the importance of the Cooperative Program and the wonderful missions work allowed at home and around the world through the Cooperative Program to all people.
As an employee at Northwest-Shoals Community College and a volunteer with the evacuees, I was very proud to see the Cooperative Program in action through the disaster relief efforts.
I am also very proud to be a Southern Baptist just like my granddad.
