Q: What led you to play the piano?
A: I started lessons when I was 8 years old. When I was 16, I began being church pianist at Roebuck Park (now NorthPark) Baptist Church in Birmingham.

Q: Why have you continued this activity?
A: When I was young, I thought maybe I was supposed to be a missionary. But, as my life developed, I believe God called me to minister to people through music. He has provided my venues because not many churches use just piano.

Q: What does the ministry demand?
A: A lot of time for practice, staying after choir practice with soloists and quartets and being in tune with the Holy Spirit to pick out the right music.

Q: What do you get from the ministry?
A: Satisfaction knowing I’m doing what God called me to do.

Q: How do family members support you?
A: They are always encouraging and complimentary.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?
A: I pray that I am able to do this as long as I live.

Q: What difference will this ministry make for you in the future?
A: As long as I’m active, it will keep my mind sharper as I grow older. I love children. My heart is that they know Jesus so that, I hope, in my far future, God will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
