In response to “Fictional World Called Dangerous,” I express my concerns.
Does the debate among Christians over Harry Potter indicate we have become so much like our culture we are unable to discern good and evil? Otherwise, why isn’t the answer clear?
The article itself sheds some light into the problem. While the article provides support of Harry Potter from the perspective of a pastor’s wife; new records in sales; children inspired to read; the author’s intent; comments by a conservative Christian commentator, associate professor of philosophy and an English teacher, the absence of an opinion by any notable Bible teacher is noticeably absent. God never directs us to seek answers from sources quoted in this article. Seems everybody’s opinion counts, except God’s.
Additionally, sources quoted as seeing a problem with Harry Potter are presented with an air of disdain, i.e. “concerned parents,”
“anti-Christian” and “desensitized to the occult.”
Let’s get back to the Bible, our only tool for discerning and finding clear answers.
