Alabama Baptist entity and auxiliary leaders shared about how each ministry is called to be “Sent … Here, There and Everywhere” during the Alabama Baptist State Convention annual meeting Nov. 15–16 at Eastmont Baptist Church, Montgomery.
Alabama Citizens Action Program (ALCAP) Executive Director Joe Godfrey shared about ALCAP’s continued action against gambling in the state. He also mentioned the new American Character Builder’s curriculum and shared a video trailer about it with messengers.
Lonette Berg, executive director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, shared a story about the salvation of Uncle Cudjoe Lewis, the last known survivor of the Atlantic slave trade, and how the history of Baptists needs to be preserved and shared so future generations can know about those who have been sent by God.
Bob Terry, editor of The Alabama Baptist, told messengers about the impact the weekly newspaper continues to make in the lives of Alabama Baptists. He also noted the paper’s upcoming 175th anniversary.
Rod Marshall, president and CEO of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries (ABCH), shared about the impact ABCH makes in the lives of thousands of children through the ministry’s foster care and adoption services before sharing a video about an Alabama couple who has fostered and adopted children because they feel they are sent to serve in their own home.
Reaching, equipping
Candace McIntosh, executive director of Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU), shared about her story of being called and sent, adding that Alabama WMU continues to reach and equip women to serve in God’s Great Commission call.
