Examining tongues

Examining tongues

I am shocked that the International Mission Board has taken such a disappointing position on prayer language. Have they not read 1 Corinthians 14?

In verse 18, Paul says: I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all. I guess this would disqualify the apostle Paul from our International Mission Board.

If this was not in the holy Bible, some of us could accept this stand, but starting in 1 Corinthians 12–14 certainly needs to be studied by many of us.

Out of the nine gifts that are given by the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:10, two of them have to do with tongues and interpretation of tongues.

Just because some of us might or might not speak in tongues, who do we think we are to condemn a gift from God? One lady called it blasphemy.

I have also heard some say that they didn’t want to send money anymore to support this kind of doctrine and that they were praying that this kind of doctrine will not be exported to foreign countries.

It is just possible that the wrong members are being asked to leave the International Mission Board. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people (Christians) are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Russians, French, Chinese, etc. All have a language. Would it be terrible if God had one for Himself? Why does Satan use individuals to fight tongues? It is because he does not know what we are praying to God and he cannot stand it. We Baptists need to examine ourselves.
