Larry E. Beauchamp, interim pastor of First Baptist Church, Gordon, says the uniqueness of his new book, “Put on the Whole Armor of God,” lies in its final chapter. After the rest of the book explains Christian warfare and Christ’s commands regarding spiritual armor, the last chapter guides the Christian through the activity of suiting up.
“When we leave our homes to go to work, school or shopping, we put clothes on. This is something we don’t even think about. Many Christians, however, do not understand that God has also given us armor, which we are to put on daily,” Beauchamp said. “This armor will protect us from the spiritual warfares of life, which we face daily. Leaving off the armor exposes us to unnecessary warfare and defeat as we attempt to live the Christian life in the flesh.”
A seven-day activity is provided to get the Christian in the habit of putting on each piece of armor, he said.
This work is the second book from Beauchamp, who retired from the Air Force and entered the pastoral ministry in 1986. He retired from the ministry in 2007 and now serves at First, Gordon.
