First Baptist Church Austinville, Decatur, celebrated its 125th anniversary Oct. 19. Ron Manly, a former pastor, was the guest preacher. Special music was provided by Jan Byrd. Testimonies of remembrance were given by Marty Steelmon, a former pastor; Wayman Cheatham, a deacon; and Joel Snyder, pastor of Unity Baptist Church, Decatur, who was ordained into the ministry at FBC Austinville. The church’s Hispanic congregation also participated in the service. Pastor Selby de Leon gave his testimony and minister of music Dani Fernandez shared in worship. Ken Blackwood, a commissioner of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, made a presentation to the church with Randy Berry, pastor for more than 15 years, accepting the plaque. A fellowship meal and displays of the church’s heritage along with information about the Hispanic congregation followed the service.
