Global Warming

Global Warming

Thank you for the great work that you do with The Alabama Baptist. I am bivocational, serving as a pastor and working as an environmental engineer. I was reading an article in your Oct. 14 paper that was puzzling. It concerned global warming.

First of all, as an environmental scientist (for almost 20 years) I have seen a number of environmental policies based on false science. Individuals and industry have spent billions of dollars on changes that did not make significant changes in our environment.

This money could have been better spent making real improvements and helping millions of people. Remember that in the 1970s, scientists predicted global freezing. And if you believe the predictions in the 1980s, we should be so overpopulated that we have no food or room to build homes by now. (The abortionists loved to use this one.)

Second, the global warming myth is one such example of bad science. Industry has spent millions because once the laws are passed and the regulations promulgated, it cannot be reversed. You can research the global warming science and find that the conclusion is that the latest warming is a natural cycle.

Third, I believe that we should help those in need. But let’s do so in the name of Jesus and to glorify God, not to glorify the environment. We should worship the Creator and not the creation.
